About
Brent Haddow ( b. 1993, Richmond, British Columbia) is a linocut printmaker and illustrator creating in his printmaking studio in Vancouver BC. Graduating in 2015 with a Bachelors of Illustration at Emily Carr University of Art and Design with a focus on drawing and printmaking Haddow's work can be best described as a celebration of movement, colour and play. Brent brings together bright colours, slight abstractions, and natural forms to make up the narrative of his work. It is the hope that the images carved and printed celebrate the spirit of craftsmanship and the handmade towards its viewer, bringing a sense of calm, joy and play to the spaces they inhabit. While creating a body of work and expanding his printmaking studio Haddow has participated in various collaborations including projects with the Vancouver Canucks, and Vancouver Whitecaps. Alongside participating in various art shows and markets around Vancouver and the Lower Mainland Brents Linocuts have populated the homes and spaces of wonderful humans who also share the love of printmaking.
With a passion for community engagement Haddow also teaches introductory to linocut printmaking workshops. Having taught over 100 students Brents workshops convert spaces around Vancouver into pop-up studios. Past spaces include Disney Animation Studios, Herschel HQ, Tacofino Ocho, August Studios, Richmond Community Centres, Luna Collective among many others. Brent started teaching workshops as a way to bring people into his studio to teach them about the wonderful world of printmaking and looks forward to all possible opportunities to build his teaching practice in all its forms.
